Playdate With Purpose: Come see our new Toddler+ Room!

You’re invited to our Playdate with Purpose, a morning of fun, exploration, and connection for little learners and their families!

Saturday, October 18th
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
YWCA Ulster County, 209 Clinton Ave, Kingston, NY

This free event welcomes children 18 months–4 years and their parents for a hands-on play experience in our newly redesigned Toddler+ Room. Together, we’ll explore engaging play centers designed to spark curiosity and imagination — because at Magic Circle School, curiosity is learning.

Our programs are helping bridge the gap in early childhood education, nurturing every child’s natural wonder while preparing them for a lifetime of growth and success. Plus, you’ll get a sneak peek at our designs for our upcoming state-of-the-art playground, built for community and creativity!

Prism Spiral - An Autumn Retreat Uniting Light & Shadow

An immersive, multidimensional weekend to reclaim abandoned shadow aspects, shine light on what needs attention, and birth a more unified self-expression.

YWCA Ulster County is honored to sponsor Prism Spiral, an immersive retreat created by our friends at Spiral Mirror. This three-day gathering offers a powerful pause from daily life to connect deeply within:

What’s been trying to catch your attention? What’s longing to be heard? How is change knocking on your door?

Coinciding with the sacred passages of Samhain/Halloween and All Souls’ Day, this retreat will guide participants to connect with the parts of ourselves that may have been cast aside, silenced, or forgotten. Together, we’ll learn to befriend those shadow aspects, listen deeply, welcome them back home, and emerge in unity.

The Healing Hours - Free holistic and metaphysical sessions brought to you monthly by People’s Place, YWCA Ulster County, and Spiral Mirror

The Healing Hours is a three-way collaboration between the YWCA Ulster County, The Wellness Empowerment Center at People’s Place, and Spiral Mirror to bring free holistic and metaphysical healing sessions to the community. It is a passion and mission for all of us to connect the community with these heart-led offerings.

Mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health are best encouraged by modalities and approaches that include and integrate all levels. And without insurance coverage for many of these, providing access to the community is enabled by the spaces, people, and organizations that care to find a way.

These services and modalities offer people new ways of connecting with themselves, expanding beyond the concept that health and healing are only facilitated by a medical system based in physical symptoms, disease, and side effects. Types of sessions offered include: Heart Healing, Akashic Record Readings, Acupuncture, Reiki, Craniosacral, Reflexology, Tarot, and more.

The Healing Hours will take place on the first Wednesday of each month at The People's Place in Kingston

Keep up to date on our mailing list and Spiral Mirror to book in your session ahead of time!

At YWCA Ulster County, everyone is part of our family, no matter their background or language. While we celebrate diversity every day, Hispanic Heritage Month gives us a chance to spotlight and honor the Latiné community.

Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 - Oct 15) celebrates the contributions, cultures, and histories of American Latinos. It began in 1968 as “Hispanic Heritage Week” and expanded to a month in 1988. This time also marks the independence days of several Latin American countries and other significant holidays.

Why the Hell Are We Still Here? Part 2: A Conversation on Martin Luther King Jr.'s Letter from Birmingham Jail-- Tuesday February 18th at 7pm at 209 Clinton Ave. Kingston, NY 12401

Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking evening on Tuesday, February 18th at 7 PM, at the YWCA Ulster County (209 Clinton Ave. Kingston, NY 12401), in partnership with River Rise, as we continue the conversation from last year’s event. This Black History Month, we’ll delve into Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Letter from Birmingham Jail, exploring the painful question: Why are we still living in a society plagued by racism and inequality?

Why do the systemic inequities King decried more than 50 years ago still persist today? This event will confront the ongoing struggles against racial injustice, examine the role of activism, and reflect on the urgent need for change. Through thoughtful dialogue, we’ll unpack King's powerful words and their relevance to our current fight for equity.

Whether you attended last year's discussion or are joining us for the first time, this event promises to be a vital opportunity for reflection, action, and community engagement.

MENTAL WELLNESS MONTH-- STAND AGAINST RACISM, JANUARY 2025

As we step into the new year, the YWCA Ulster County is proud to honor Mental Wellness Month this January. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and it’s time to break the silence, remove the stigma, and prioritize our well-being.

Throughout this month, we encourage everyone to take time for self-care, reach out for support, and educate themselves on the importance of mental health. Whether you’re struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, or simply looking to improve your overall mental wellness, remember: you are not alone.

We stand in solidarity with those facing mental health challenges, and we are committed to providing resources and creating a safe space for all. It’s okay to ask for help, and it’s okay to take care of yourself—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Together, we can build a community that fosters healing, resilience, and support.

INDIGENOUS PEOPLES MONTH-- STAND AGAINST RACISM, NOVEMBER 2024

November is Indigenous Peoples Month, a time to honor and uplift the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous communities. As we reflect on the legacy of Indigenous peoples, it is crucial that we also acknowledge the systemic racism and discrimination that continues to affect them today.

At YWCA Ulster County, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities and advocate for justice, equity, and inclusion. Racism against Indigenous peoples is a violation of human rights, and it’s our collective responsibility to challenge harmful stereotypes, dismantle inequitable systems, and amplify Indigenous voices.

We invite you to join us this month in committing to the fight against racism. Whether through education, action, or reflection, let’s work together to ensure a future where every person, regardless of their heritage, can live in dignity and peace.

UNTIL JUSTICE JUST IS- April 2024

YWCA is on a mission to eliminate institutional and structural racism. We act every day by raising awareness about the impact of institutional and structural racism and by building community among those who work to advance racial justice.

This year, our racial justice campaign, Until Justice Just Is (UJJI), centers around the theme Building Bridges to Equity, and it will be based on the topics for the 2024 YWCA Racial Justice Challenge, which will be:

  • Bodily Autonomy
  • Women’s Financial Empowerment/Caregiving
  • Gun Violence
  • Transportation

This year’s campaign will take place throughout the entire month of April, with the YWCA Racial Justice Challenge, a critical component of the campaign, running April 1–29. Join us all month long as we highlight YWCA Local Association events and initiatives to inspire and engage our network of activists, advocates, and allies and advance racial justice — together.

Check out the YWCA USA website for more information about Until Justice Just Is here https://justice.ywca.org/.
