UNTIL JUSTICE JUST IS- April 2024

YWCA is on a mission to eliminate institutional and structural racism. We act every day by raising awareness about the impact of institutional and structural racism and by building community among those who work to advance racial justice.

This year, our racial justice campaign, Until Justice Just Is (UJJI), centers around the theme Building Bridges to Equity, and it will be based on the topics for the 2024 YWCA Racial Justice Challenge, which will be:

• Bodily Autonomy

• Women’s Financial Empowerment/Caregiving

• Gun Violence

• Transportation

This year’s campaign will take place throughout the entire month of April, with the YWCA Racial Justice Challenge, a critical component of the campaign, running April 1–29. Join us all month long as we highlight YWCA Local Association events and initiatives to inspire and engage our network of activists, advocates, and allies and advance racial justice — together.

Check out the YWCA USA website for more information about Until Justice Just Is here https://justice.ywca.org/.

Reach us comms@ywcaulstercounty.org or 845-338-6844 for local events through the Mid-Hudson Valley that we will be supporting and hosting.

Week Without Violence Week Long Series of Events 10/16-10/20

Week Without Violence October 16, 2023 - October 21, 2023

Women of all backgrounds and identities disproportionately bear the burden of gender-based

violence — online and in-person — and it is important to recognize the diverse experiences of

survivors. Communities of color, LGBTQ+ people, women and girls with disabilities, veterans,

and those with multiple marginalized identities are just some of the groups that are at

heightened risk for violence, and who often face greater barriers to safety and accessing

resources and support. This week, we are joining YWCA USA and others for #WeekWithoutViolence, to

elevate stories, share information, and raise awareness about #GenderBasedViolence. Please

$25 per person! Please register here: https://bit.ly/ywcamindfulnessnilaja or scan the QR code on the flyer. Email comms@ywcaulstercounty.org for more information!🙏

Learning Objectives include:

- Objective 1: Introduce attendees to the historical roots and functions of mindfulness
- Objective 2: Describe burnout, compassion fatigue and emotional resilience.
- Objective 3: Engage in experiential learning and provide skills to apply to daily living and work.

Compassion fatigue occurs when workers take on the emotional experiences of their clients and burnout develops over time where a worker feels continually asked to meet demands for which they do not have enough resources. Mindfulness has been shown to significantly decrease levels of stress, anxiety and to increase self-compassion and overall mood for client facing workers such as healthcare providers.🪷

Susan Diamond, MSW, is a Certified Financial Social Worker, aka Money Coach, Podcast Host, Author, and Founder of The Herfinance Club. She is on a mission to inspire ONE MILLION women to start the money conversation and move past the taboos and hang-ups about talking about money and finances. She began her career in finance not as an economist or a financial planner but as a social worker interested in people’s attitudes and emotional reactions to money.

She loves helping women break through the money blocks holding them back from realizing their full financial potential and reprogramming their mindset to win with wealth.

Here’s how our chats can help you:

  • Give you clarity about the way you affect money, which is just as important as
  • how money affects you
  • Reconnect with your money
  • Tips for you to create positive change
  • Increase your (financial) self-awareness
  • Unveil the critical things you can do and incorporate into your life right now to
  • strengthen your relationship with money
